About

 Yellow Top + Statement Necklace

Hey there, I’m Audrey!

I’m a 40-something-year-old who lives in California with my husband Benson and our three kids. I can never say no to burritos or boba, I’ll take any excuse to go to Target, and I don’t think there’s such a thing as too many striped pieces! 😆

About Putting Me Together
Back in the day, I was obsessed with the TV show What Not to Wear. Sure, I loved the outfits and dynamic personalities of Stacy and Clinton. But what I really loved was seeing how the right clothes can raise someone’s self-esteem and make their confidence soar.

I started Putting Me Together in 2011 to help women make sense of style. I’ve seen a lot of women overwhelmed, distressed, and frustrated with clothes and disheartened about their bodies, and my hope is that PMT relieves some of that.  I believe every person deserves to feel great about themselves.  Whether you already think style is fun or whether you feel “style challenged,” PMT aims to make style accessible to everyone.

If you’re new here and looking for a place to start, check out some of these guides:

  1. Hi just found your blog recently and I love it. Also love that you are in a relationship with Jesus. My husband and I got baptised together 2 1/2 years ago 🙂 sending love and support from the UK x

  2. I just found your blog today and two things are already VERY clear to me:
    1. I want to be your friend.
    2. Your blog just might be exactly what my style has needed!

    haha, thanks for sharing!

  3. Hi. I just found your blog through Pinterest! I love, love, love your blog! So much inspiration! Just what I needed! You are doing a great job with this blog!
    Greetings from Germany

  4. Hi! I found your blog during a random Google search. I read the entire blog over the last weekend and I adore it. I subscribed right away. Great wardrobe tips and you are adorable!

  5. Thanks for taking that leap to start your blog — I love that you are all about uplifting people through style and your relationship with God. I am always working to have a better relationship with Him and am also working on my wardrobe, as I will be graduating from college in December and would like to have a "professional" wardrobe when I start grad school.

    Keep sharing your light 🙂

  6. I just came across your blog for the first time and it just may be my new favorite style blog. I love all your narrative in all your posts and I really appreciate that everything you sport is actually affordable! So happy to have you found you and subscribe 🙂

  7. Hi I just found your blog through pinterest. I've never read any style blogs. It's so inspiring so far. I love your style and appreciate your faith. Thank you!

  8. Hi there! Just wanted you to know that I found your blog via pinterest a few days ago and I have already read probably every word in it lol. As you mentioned, I myself have been in a "jeans" rut forever and have always thought women who seemed like they had a new outfit everyday just had more money than me. =/ But now I see that I can really change up my whole wardrobe easily. Thank you so much =D Really do appreciate the inspiration!

  9. Just found you through Pinterest…only read a couple of posts but I am already in love! It couldn't have come at a more perfect time, it's just what my wardrobe needs! Thank you and keep up the great blogging!

  10. You are an absolute doll! I found you through Pinterest and I just want to thank you for helping me re-style my closet! Great outfits and not extravagant prices. I love that you love Jesus too 🙂 Blessings!

  11. Hi,

I found your blog thanks to pinterest. And I just love it!
I have read your whole blog in just 2 days!

(sorry if I may spell something wrong, I'm dutch. And writhing english is nog my strongest point)

  12. Found this through pinterest and I'm totally digging this blog! I always wonder what a certain piece may look like in a separate combo but then I chicken out and wear it as I usually would. ^^' This's been so helpful, can't wait for more posts!

  13. I just found your blog on Pinterest and I have been scanning around all day. I LOVE your ideas. I am a mother of 2 and have LOST my personal style as my weight goes up and down. I CANNOT wait to go through my closet and start over again. I LOVE that your blog shows REAL clothes on a REAL person!!! Thanks for ALL of the time you put into this blog…it is GREAT!!

  14. Thank you so much for posting pictures of REAL clothes that REAL people can afford. I love it! I am planning on doing a little better at dressing myself this fall (I spend most of my time dressing 2 kids and a husband!) and your ideas are amazing, yet simple. Thank you for the pictures, you look great! God bless, you girl!

  15. I know I already posted here…but I just wanted to tell you that YESTERDAY I wore a belt with a shirt that I have not worn in a year AND today I bought another belt. I have never gotten more compliments in one day…felt great. Thanks for the push to make simple changes. I walked around the mall noticing pieces that I would have NEVER looked at before and thought…what could I layer with that?? Or I bet that would be cute with a belt. Thanks Thanks Thanks!!!

    1. Jessica, I LOVE it! I especially love that you got compliments–because of a BELT. It almost feels like cheating, doesn't it? Keep it up!

  16. I love your blog!! Found it on pinterest. So helpful. I'm pregnant now, so will be looking to utilize some tips now and after baby comes. My husband just graduated from seminary, so we are making what clothes we have work as much as possible! So helpful. thanks! God bless.

  17. I just found your blog on pinterest and I've learned so much from reading it! I cat wait to go through my closet and buy some BELTS! Thanks for sharing! You are so cute and I love your style!

  18. Best blog ever! I was wondering if you have done a winter or spring version of your "8 pieces, 15 outfits"?? I am going on a two week trip to London/Edinburgh/Dublin in March of 2013. It's still pretty chilly in March(average temperature is around 55 during the day, probably a little less)

  19. I've recently discovered your blog, and as a stay-at-home-mom, I often find it so hard to feel in style. You have a casual wardrobe that also has presence, and that's what I love about it. I love the way you do that thing with your belts – the little curl thing at the end. My goal this year as my son turns 3 (and I turn 41!) is to find a way to get out of the jeans/tshirt rut….bought a blazer at Target as my first attempt. Thanks and look forward to seeing more of your blog!

  20. Love your blog! You have completely inspired me to revamp my wardrobe after losing some weight. I have always done well with thrift shopping, but never knew how to put outfits together once I bought single items. With your help, I am finding " completer pieces" and having a blast playing with my style. I even bought colored bottoms- gasp!:)Thank you!!

  21. Discovered your blog through Pinterest! Love everything about it…just when I was wishing I had an entirely new wardrobe, you have inspired me to remix my closet…Looking forward to more of your posts and suggestions!

  22. Wonderful Website. Im hoping you can do some style ideas using a tank maxi dress. I have one that i am constantly wondering how to wear not just as a black maxi dress.

  23. Hi Audrey, I just wanted to say that you've given me so much inspiration to whittle down my closet and make my clothing work together. My weight fluctuates alot, but your style seems to transcend size, which is wonderful. I do have one question. I have very fair skin, naturally fair (blonde) hair, light blue eyes and a rosy complexion, and I find that it's hard for me to pull off so many color combinations. I'm jealous of your beautiful complexion and dark hair! Can you give any recommendations for dressing me?
God bless you, I know this will change my life!

    1. Hi Beth, thank you for taking the time to write! Regarding your question about coloring–gosh, I'm not sure. I'm not a professional stylist and am not that familiar with different people's colorings. However, I will say that I actually wish I could pull of some colors that blonde haired blue eyed people can, such as this lovely blogger here: http://www.runningonhappiness.com/ If you sift through her blog that might open you up to try some colors that you think you can't pull off! Also, it sounds like your coloring might be similar to Reese Witherspoon? She's one of my celebrity style icons, so try Googling some of her looks!

  24. I am so glad that I stumbled across your blog (thanks to Pinterest). Your story sounds a lot like mine: I love Jesus, I'm a teacher trying to help her students find their way, I LOVE shopping at Target, and I love chocolate ice cream. I've also recently began working on my wardrobe trying to make what I have and what I can afford work for me (I recently lost 12 pounds, too). I love cruising online for creative ways to put what I already have together or which pieces I should buy that will look great and give me the most bang for my buck. Your blog is everything rolled into one. Thanks so much for the great advice and motivation! 🙂

  25. I just stumbled across your blog from Pinterest as well. I'm a Christian wife/mom/nurse expecting baby #2 in October. I'm really excited about redoing my wardrobe {in an affordable way} after baby comes. I'm loving your blog and your outfit ideas. Thanks for sharing! You are adorable.

  26. I just found you through Pinterest, and wow oh wow am I glad that I did. I am currently VERY stuck in the one pair of jeans with a million t-shirts rut!

I am SO SO glad that you have adorable and modest outfits! I read through you re-mixable wardrobe posts and it was so easy to finally grasp the concepts, and see that I could too one day (hopefully soon) be stylish! I've always seen girls who dress like you and felt a little envious but also totally clueless as to how to put together such a look!
Thanks for the blog, and especially the great pictures to go with the explanations.

  27. Hi Audrey! I saw you on Pinterest and was like I know her. I work for the same non-profit as you only in Kentucky 🙂 and I have the same priviledge as you to help college students grow in their faith. Anyways saw you pinterest and thought I would say hello and let you know that I think your blog is really cool! You inspire me. Blessings & hope your NSO season is going well.

  28. Hi Audrey,

I just found your blog, and I just wanted to write and say how much I love it! I am trying to do the same thing you are – kind of revitalize my wardrobe and "get it together" a bit more without having to spend too much money in the process. I love your ideas for accessorizing and I especially love how you show how a few basics can be worn so many different ways. It takes looking cute and put-together from being kind of intimidating and overwhelming to being within reach with just a few tweaks. Thanks 🙂

  29. I found your blog about a month ago and started reworking my wardrobe. I, too, was in a jeans and tee (for fun) or jeans and sleeveless shell (for work) rut. I am having so much fun "shopping" in my closet. Coming up with new combinations and better ways to wear the clothes I already have. The last 2 Sundays, I have planned my wardrobe for the following week, down to the accessories and hung them as outfits in my closet. I am happy to say, that so far I have accomplished 10 days worth of work wear and not had the same outfit twice. I think I can get a minimum of 2 more weeks of unique outfits too! One think I need to work on is a better selection of bottoms. Most of my pants are dark or medium denim with 1 black and 1 gray thrown in. I would love a charcoal pant for fall. I think that would work wonders in my closet. Thank you for all the great advice. I am definitely a fan!

  30. Audrey, I love your "about me" section! Are you on staff with a campus ministry? I was very involved in InterVarsity in college and have friens on staff with IV and Cru. I love your blog and your faith – look forward to reading more!

    1. Katie! I was trying to find your email address to respond to this so I could tell you more, but the answer is YES. The one that has the big missions conference every 3 years near Christmas. 😉

  31. This blog is great! I love the fashion and clothing tips. I have always been a t-shirt and jeans type of gal but am starting to branch out from that 🙂 Your ideas are helping me to find possibilities I didn't even realize existed in my own closet so thank you!

  32. I just stumbled upon your blog via pinterest and I'm definitely subscribing! I too love fashion, repurposing what I have, and work in college ministry just *up the road* from you in Long Beach! Keep fighting the Good Fight and encouraging women to be beautiful inside and out 🙂

  33. You have seriously helped me to make some break-throughs. I have been in the "jeans-rut" for so long. I'm drawn to pretty tops above all other pieces of clothing so I end up with a bunch of shirts and a bunch of jeans which ends up being a bunch of boring with little room for creativity. I love being creative and am trying to see clothes as a way to do this. As a recent college-grad moving into the teaching world, my style has been forced to evolve since there's a no-jeans rule. Thanks for helping me to see that with just a few more key pieces and the right mindset I can get so much more enjoyment out of my wardrobe.

  34. Because of your blog i've started looking at my closet trying to make it better. You've also inspired me to start a blog on here. Confusing but i'll get the hang of it hopefully 🙂 I love your blog!!

  35. Hi Audrey! I found your blog through another blog I follow and I love it! I read through all the way to the beginning and it was fun to see how your style has evolved. I have alot of "one hit wonders", as you would say, so am ready to follow your awesome tips and build a remixable wardrobe. I am so inspired by your blog and cannot wait to get started. I am a Jesus follower too and your love for Jesus is also a great inspiration. Thank you for sharing your blog…you are creative, funny, cute, honest and open.

  36. Hi Audrey! Quick question. I recently went thrifting and picked up a couple of really cute colored dress pants for the low. While they are my size in the waist, I did not think to check their lengths, and low-and-behold, two of the three pairs "flood". Do you have any advice on how to wear flooding pants with style, in other words, remix them? Or is it a lost cause? Thanks for any advice!

    1. Haha, oh man. Honestly, it depends what your body shape is, where they hit you, and how wide the leg is. Cigarette pants are really trendy these days, and while they're shorter, they're super slim fit…but I also think that works best on a slimmer body type versus someone with larger hips. (picture linked here) If you're curvier and the pants are wider leg, I wouldn't recommend them. If you're leaner and the leg is wider, then you *might* be able to get away with pairing them with heels and a fitted top. But I really wouldn't be able to give you a good answer unless I could see what they looked like and what your shape is. Good luck!

  37. I stumbled across your blog while searching pinterest. I have been in a clothing rut for the past couple of years. I enjoy shopping, but struggle with rethinking different ways to wear my clothes. Your blog has opened my eyes to all the possibilities..keeping posting…and i'll keep reading. 🙂

  38. So happy to have found your blog! I came across it on a search for dressing down a pencil skirt. I love that you shop at affordable stores and use things from places like Forever21 etc.. but keep them looking classic and cute, not overly trendy or cheap. I'm a young 31 in a creative career and am working hard to get my wardrobe up to snuff on a tight budget. Your before/after photos showing the change in an outfit is SO helpful. I feel like I 'know' all the principles you talk about… I too am a WNTW fan, but seeing specific examples is a big help. I just did a big closet clean out so I can do some fall shopping. Here's to not falling into the pitfalls of years past! 🙂

  39. Hi Audrey! Just came across your blog and forwarded it to a friend with "this will change your life!" I love how simple you make it to help others look their best. Awesome job!! Thanks 🙂

  40. One of my friends turned me on to this site! And its just in time, I need a serious wardrobe makeover but don't want to break the bank, so I really need to learn how to mix and match different staple pieces together, that will flatter my petite frame! So you have a new member. I can't wait to see what I learn.

  41. Hi Audrey! Your blog is brilliant!! I found it through Pinterest. And every day since then, hundreds of others have repinned your photos. Anyway, I used to keep a binder of magazine pages and other photos of outfits for some fashion inspiration, but all they were all full of ONE HIT WONDERS! Since I've found you blog, I haven't looked at that binder once! And thank you so much for showing us not-so-fashion-savvy girls that a remixable wardrobe is also very affordable! Keep up the good work!

  42. I came across your blog via Pinterest and have to say that it's probably the most informative and educational style blog I've happened upon. I majored in Fashion in college and came from a family of dressmakers, so this all came pretty naturally to me but I found your blog to be a breath of fresh air among the hundreds of fashion blogs that focus more on consumerism than helping others. Your message is inspiring and the fact that you're helping hundreds of women discover/re-invent their style (in an affordable way) is so wonderful. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and you've gained another follower!

  43. Don't you love Pinterest for leading you to awesome things like this blog? It's really great! I'm always amazed when people seem to never wear the same thing twice just because they can remix their closet, so I'm thankful you're blogging about HOW to do that! Also, I have this skirt that I recently bought (black, a-line, with a polka dot fabric overlay thing), and because of the pattern, I can only think of one shirt I can wear with it! Any ideas? Thanks!

  44. Found you via Pinterest, and boy am I glad. I too am in the process of overhauling my wardrobe, and it's interesting to me that many style ideas you've presented are ones I have discovered in my search. But to see it in such a comprehensive way gives me much encouragement! And thank you for being bold in your faith…you are an inspiration!

  45. I think I read every post from the last year in one night 🙂 As I was reading, I was like, hmmm, she sounds like an on campus staff worker. And then I read your post on traveling to Madison, and I was like, hmmm, I wonder if she works for Intervarsity? And then I read this – and I was right! Maybe not IV, but certainly something similar. Great blog and great style! Love the color, structure and clean lines. Definitely subscribed.

  47. It's great to hear from you and see what you've been up to. In your blog I feel your enthusiasm for life. thank youhttp://www.heromancc.com/Carbon-Sheet-160g-T300-3K-Unidirectional-goods-164.html

  48. Hi

Just stumled across your blog through pinterest (someone had pinned your outfit choices) so i was curious to have a look and I love your site!
Its so helpful and I love your wardrobe…especially the army vest from old navy…i want one!
    Ill be coming back!
    Thanks heaps 🙂 xx

  49. I also just found your site via pinterest! I can't believe I hadn't heard of your blog before, but I am SO glad I have, now. I'm in the middle of reworking my wardrobe (just had baby #2 two months ago) and your site has been incredibly constructive in helping me pinpoint exactly what I want to do. I'll definitely be sticking around! Keep up the great work. 😀

  50. I just found your website via Pinterest. I'm in the process of trying to revamp my closet because my style is boring. Thanks to Pinterest I have been able to put some things together that I never would have thought went together. From seeing a couple of outfits and reading your about me I admire the fact that you love Jesus which is rare these days. I look forward to gaining inspiration for my closet.

  51. I (also) found your blog on pinterest and am so happy you have it! It's REAL clothing and outfits and a style that I can relate to. Now that I've hit 30, I feel like I'm finally settling into my personal style and your site and recommendations are a big help. Thanks so much for what you are doing!

  52. Hello Audrey! I recently stumbled upon your blog…and I am so glad that I did! The pictures worth a thousand words, I must say! Very neat, well put and informative blog. Keep on the good work dear!

I will really appreciate if you check out my beauty-health care blog and be a part of it http://www.sifascorner.com

    Cheers!

  53. i rarely comment on blogs, but i had to on yours because so far i LOVE it. reading about you makes me laugh b/c i have three cardigans… grey, brown and black. 🙂 i love your style; it's cute, but still fairly casual which is SO me. well, what i'm always aiming for anyway. i am definitely going to be taking your advice hoping to update my wardrobe instead of wearing a cute tee with a pair of skinnies every day. thank you!

  54. Hi Audrey,

I just found your blog on Pinterest! My family and I are lovers of Christ. How great it is to be in HIS company. Even though we now live in NC, I too am a South Cali. Girl. Born and raised in Pasadena and San Diego. 🙂 Absolutley adore your blog.

    Chat with you soon,
    Sabrina

  55. You know the saying, "there's someone in the world who looks just like you" well I'm pretty sure you're mine! I'm not kidding! We look identical in 90% of your pictures.

  56. I just found your blog in the last week. I have no idea how, as I've been pinning and clicking and browsing through all sorts of style blogs and whatnot (I'm turning 30 in a couple months and I think I'm having a mid-life style crisis! LOL!), but yours is the first I've felt like commenting on. Love it. Modest, easy, loved your remixable wardrobe series! And you wear flats and boots! I've seen other blogs that only seem to wear heels, and I find myself wondering if the outfits would look as cute in flats… I'm a stay at home mom to three little ones, and I live in Iowa (think lots of icy walking surfaces in the winter), so heels just aren't the most practical. All that to say, thank you, you're doing a great job!

  57. I found your blog last week on pinterest and I love it! I spent two hours just browsing through all of your posts and got so many ideas! I then remixed an old outfit for going out this past Friday just by adding a scarf and belt and it made the outfit feel brand new! I received so many compliments; it's amazing how adding just one or two things can change the look completely! Your blog is adorable and so informative. Keep it up, you're doing a great job!

  58. Hello! I am so glad I stumbled across your blog on Pinterest! At 35 years old, I STILL struggle with putting together half-way decent outfits! I always leave stores empty handed because I give up. I'm tired of looking frumpy…looking forward to learning and looking better! Thanks for putting this together for us girls who need help!

    Blessings!

  59. Do you know how FEW people I know appreciate fun clothes AND boba? Why don't you live in DENVER? 🙂 Just letting you know there are people who appreciate your willingness to share your faith publicly, expose your creative side, and drink whimsical beverages 🙂

  60. I stumbled upon your blog while looking for ways to pack light (a few fashion blogs do the 8 pieces and ___outfits). Your blog made me super excited to go experiment with my own clothes, and like you, faith and modesty are important to me. It's encouraging to find modest fashions without resorting exclusively to turtlenecks and bag skirts. Great writing! Great fashion! Keep it up!

  61. I happened to see a pin to your blog on Pinterest and clicked on it! I read all 5 parts of remixing your wardrobe, and while this might be basic for some people, I am "clothes dumb" and it gave me some good tips. Thank you for showing us less fashion savvy gals the foundation to creating a wardrobe. Your explanations are helpful and gave me hope for style on a budget. Thank you and Merry Christmas from Cleveland Ohio!

  62. Hi Audrey!
So it WAS you leading worship at Urbana! I came across your blog a few months ago via Pinterest and when I saw your picture in the handbook I thought, 'gee, she looks awfully familiar!' This past week at Urbana was UNREAL. It was awesome to worship and ring in the new year with you and 16,000+ others!:D You are such an inspiration. Happy New Year from Canada!

  63. My daughter sent me a link to your blog and I can't begin to tell you how encouraging I've found it. Six months ago I had reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy. The results weren't what I had hoped for and I struggle to reclaim this "different me". Using your guidance, I have been able to use some of my existing wardrobe, and with a few new pieces greatly expand what I can wear. I feel so much better about approaching normal again!

  64. I don't recall how I found you, but I'm glad I did. The other day, I wore a t-shirt tucked into my jeans and wore a belt in my jeans. My friend, who is bluntly honest to a fault, bless her heart, told me, "You have a waist!" I laughed and nodded, immediately thinking about one of your posts. Thank you.

  65. I love your blog! Thank you so much for helping me dress well again. After having kids & working from home for so long, I've let myself go and you've been guiding me back! Thanks so much, Jill

  66. I just discovered your blog via Kacie's Kloset and am a new follower! I think we would get along great! I'm also a San Diegan who loves Jesus!! And I have my own little slice of the blogosphere over at Buttons & Pockets. I'd love for you to check it out and connect!

  67. Hello!

I saw one of your pictures on pinterest and thought that you looked familiar and realized that you were on the worship team at Urbana12!!

    Thanks for sharing your tips!

Hope you're having a wonderful start to the new year!

    -S

  68. Im searching for a fashion blog of someone that is comparable to my size. Im a size 6. Would you mind telling me if its close to your size for reference reasons?! THANKS! Everyone else I loook at are so teeny tiny with no bodies, they look beautiful but i have a hard time picturing myself in many of their outfits!

  69. I stumbled upon your blog today from Pinterest and just had to pass on my thanks! As a stay-at-home Mom (who loves Jesus like you :-)), I don't often get much past my standard jeans or yoga pants (read: pajamas). But, your blog inspired me to put a little more thought into my wardrobe for a weekend getaway with my hubby. Your tips and a recent weight loss allowed me to re-work pieces I mostly had packed in the recesses of my closet into a long weekend full of outfits that I feel confident and pretty in, and I didn't even spend any money! I can't wait to show them off to my hubby! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  70. Hi Audrey,

I just discovered your blog yesterday (thanks Pinterest!) and have been reading and learning a lot. This morning I was inspired so got out a much loved but little worn top. It needs a cami to be decent but is too hot to wear with one so usually sits unworn. But not today! I grabbed a scarf I bought on impluse that doesn't match anything, drapped it around to cover the indecent bit of my top, tucked the ends into my top and now my black top looks like it has a funky cowl neck and nobody has to see more of my boobs than I or they want too 🙂

Now I just need to find my a blogger like you whose pregnant so I can style stylish with my ever increasing stomach.

    Nomi

  71. I just found your blogging looks like we have similar styles. I have the same hairstyle and a lot of the same type of clothes on your site. I am the queen of accessories and your blog is giving me some great ideas. I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids but try and stay in style. Can I ask how tall are you?

  72. Just found your blog today. Gotta love Pinterest. I wanted to say thank you!! I am going to be a freshman in college next year and this is exactly what I need to make over my wardrobe to look more polished and mature. I'm only 5 foot and look extremely young so your tips will help me look more mature and like a college student. Instead of still looking like a little girl in high school. Thank you!

  73. I wish I lived in your climate! I live in Wisconsin and don't know how to dress cute in the winter (or any season really!). I like your blog and style. Know of anyone like you blogging about style for the Midwestern weather??

  74. Hi Audry,

I've been following your blog for a few months now after finding you through Pinterest and love it! I have been getting more creative with my wardrobe and your blog has inspired me to mix and match pieces from my closet. And thank you for introducing me to Go Chic or Go Home and StyleUp! I recently went through my closet and created several outfits similar to those you have posted. 🙂

  75. Hi Audrey, I just found your blog via Pinterest. This is not outfit related but I am wondering where you go to church. My husband and I are moving to San Diego next month. I've been mentally making a list of churches for us to visit in our search for finding a new church home. Thanks!

  76. Audrey I love your blog!! I stumbled upon your blog via Pinterest a month ago an have been hooked since. I found myself constantly buying cute shirts but my whole wardrobe was dark and I couldn't mix & match. I have been completely clueless about fashion even though I love clothes. I had a lot of blazers & cardigans but never knew how to pair anything much less consider rolling up sleeves!! lol I use to stick to basic safe colors but in the last month I have bought yellows, greens, etc…colors & patterns I didn't like before. I'm getting the hang of it now that I even returned a few recent purchases and saved me some $!! People at work have noticed and even my husband has complimented me often!! Thank you for your blog and the time to share your ideas! BTW I love Jesus too and dream of living in San Diego one day!! -Gina

  77. Audrey…I really love your blog and I especially love your words about your commitment to Christ and the work you do with college students. May God continue to bless you. Greetings from Canada…Sylvia

  78. Hi Audrey. Like so many others I found your blog via Pinterest, spend way too much of what should have been and effective work day reading it.

I would love to see you do a wardrobe from scratch for a plus size person. (preferably me, but as I'm in Denmark I guess that's not an option…) More often than not I find, that I cannot buy what I like or even what need – but have to settle for whatever fits me. And I'm not even that large, but the options for plus size clothing in Denmark is depressingly limited and mostly an array of different colored cotton tents…

Anyway I'm in love with your blog, very inspired and totally ready to throw the kids to bed early, empty my closet and start tossing, mixing ad filling in the gaps 😉

  79. Audrey – I think you're great! Your outfits are very relatable and that's what I love about them!

  80. I follow your blog because you show outfits I would actually wear! You do a fantastic job – keep it up. 🙂

  81. Hi Audrey,
I found your blog via pinterest, and it was just what I needed. I'm a mom of 2 and this blog has totally helped me to "remix" my closet. Thanks!!!

  82. Hi Audrey! Just want to say how much I appreciate your blog! I posted a link to facebook today saying, "I love this gal's style!" I have recently cleaned out my closet and tried to assess what I have and how to put things together better. One reason is my husband is in grad school and our budget is quite limited. Another, is I have actually been thinking about clothes, among other material things, and the things they communicate to others. I feel like the way you present yourself communicates joy, confidence, friendliness, and accessibility. I have struggled at times to know what it would look like to honor Christ with my clothes–does it mean giving up having any sense of style altogether? On the other hand, I have some believing friends who are so fashionable and obviously spend so much time and money on their wardrobes, I don't think they realize they are actually alienating others with the unattainable way they dress. Which is why coming across your blog made me so happy! By the way, I am wearing shorts, and flow-y sleeveless top and wedge sandals today inspired by your blog!

  83. Hi Audrey, I stumbled on your blog the other day and am a follower now! 🙂 I love Target too and am so inspired by your budget friendly style. I bought 3 belts today for $5 (amazing find at JCPenney's) and am starting to rethink my wardrobe – I'm a stay at home mom so it's been a while since I've had time to "put myself together". Oh, also we have some friends in common (UCSD alumni who were a part of IV). It's a small world thanks to the internet! So glad I found your blog! God bless!

  84. Hi Audrey, Just wanted to let you know that I look forward to reading your blog everyday! I love the way you put outfits together and that you feature affordable clothes. You provide an amazing service to your readers, thank you!! Angie

  85. Audrey, I'm so glad I found your blog! (via Pinterest while researching Project 333) I feel like I have no style and your blog amazingly educational and inspirational. Thank you! You make me feel like I can do this 🙂

  86. I stumbled on your blog, no idea how, but that's beside the point! I love how everything is so affordable, even for someone on a very tight budget at the moment! Like $20 affordable!

  87. I came across your blog from a Pinterest pic. It's fabulous and cute! Great job- and love that you post the stores and options. To cute and VERY chic!

  88. Hi Audrey!!! I just found your blog on Pinterest a couple of days ago and I absolutely love it!!!! I have been working on the mixing and matching for a little over a year now, and your blog has helped me realize that I can do it too. I also love the show What Not to Wear and I get the whole concept but my issue was that the outfits I create wouldn't match. But thanks to you have finally realized that adding a pop of color or a print really adds interest to an outfit. So thanks Aubrey for your amazing blog!!!!

  89. Audrey love! I have been following your blog for quite some time now (over a year) and I just have to finally say thank you! You're "putting me together" is exactly what I need. After changing sizes (multiple times) after having my daughter I often found it hard to dress my new and more shapely (in all the right ways) figure. You're blog has helped me put together phenomenal styles for every shape, size, and curve I've had. I always feel confident when I step out of the house and get compliments on my style just about every day. I often say it's Audrey's I borrowed. No one knows who the heck I'm talking about but nonetheless, amazing as always! Whenever I need some new inspiration, a change, or I have a big event this is my first stop shop. I find we both have an addiction for Target and Old Navy-but who wouldn't? All too often pieces you have, I have in either a different color, or the same :). Again, thank you so much for being my fashinsperation! (I made that up). You make dressing me all too easy and all too classy!

  90. I just found you on Pinterest! I feel like I could stay up all night reading your blog and that we could be BFF's. My sister always gives me closet consultations to help me re-work my pieces and find new ones to add in. This blog is going to be our inspiration! Thanks for this!

  91. I have been following your blog for a few months now after finding you on pinterest and just wanted to say thank you for being such an inspiration! I Look forward to continuing to read and apply what I am learning to my everyday life and style.

  92. I remixed my clothes for the first time today 🙂 and to hell with modesty, I look great! Thanks to you Audrey 🙂

  93. In the process of trying to re-work my own closet, I came across your blog this morning and have been reading through all of it for the past few hours. This is a great resource and has everything I needed to know in one place to get myself started. I have also been in a "jeans and cute top" rut for a long time and need to change things up so I can feel better about the way I dress. Thank you so much for taking the time to put all of this together – I truly appreciate it!

  94. Oh My! I am in total love with your site!!! I love how we share the love of Target & GOD! I'm totally fashion retarded! I was wondering if you had more business casual outfits/collections! I just started a new position at a call center and we must be in business casual, & Friday is the only day we are can wear denim. Being the mom of two small children, and being at stay at home mom for last 2yrs, My closet is pretty much jeans, yoga pants & t-shirts! Love you blog & can't wait to try some of your ideas!

  95. I have been checking out your blog for the past couple of months and LOVE it! I love a modest yet stylish look 🙂 I've recently lost 40 pds and have needed to buy almost a whole set of different clothes. I made a list of things that I "needed" to buy while looking through your blog and keep it in my purse! So…if I can hit the Thrift Shop or anywhere there's an awesome sale…I just pull out my list! I live in a rural area – about 3 hours from a Target 🙁 But can't wait to take my list there one day! Thanks so much for doing this blog – it is very inspirational!

  96. Hey there!

Just wanted to say I love your blog! I recently came across this blog a few weeks ago and I find myself referring back to it constantly, especially since I like to look cute without spending lots of time doing it. I love the practically and budget conscious pieces. I've been on tons of fashion blogs and pinterest boards but this is the first one I've been compelled to comment on. I love how you cater to people's life styles and how the pieces are re usable and not a gajillion dollars for something you'll only wear once. I find your choices chic, practical, cute, and stylish. You are practically my savior. Thanks!

  97. Hi Audrey – I am so super excited to have stumbled upon your blog a couple weeks ago. I'm reading through like it's a best seller novel. I love it!!!! Your words and take on fashion resonate with me so much, thank you. I am walking myself through your Creating a Wardrobe from Scratch. Maybe I didn’t have to start from scratch but I need help. Shopping has always been HUGE stress in my life and I finally feel I might be able to do away with the stress this has always caused me. I really hope I can pull it off. Thank you again and looking forward to what is to come.

  98. I found your blog through Pinterest and wow you have given me so much inspiration! This is the first style blog I have found that features outfits I feel like I could actually pull off and some of them include piece I already own! Probably because I'm a HUGE Target fan also 🙂 You have definitely gained a loyal reader but I do have one question. Do you ever post about hairstyles? I really love your haircut and have been looking for something similar but I have no clue how to explain it to a stylist. Could you please help me out?!

  99. Audrey, I've been following you on my sisters advice for the past couple of years and though I find that I'm fatter now with age than I'd like to be, you've inspired me to try shapes, combinations and colors that I'd never have imagined would work. And a lot of them do!!!
I have a request – I was one of the people that asked on your FB page for you to do reviews… but am having a hard time finding them now….. need to comb through the blog. Would you please consider have a 'Reviews' sub-title up top… you have the space and I love your reviews and why some things work and others don't. I'm sure others would appreciate it too.

  100. today i found your blog, and i love it, i want my life to be simpler, and every advice i can take from you will be useful. Saludos from Mexico. Ana

  101. Just discovered your blog and I love it! I am always looking for blogs like this! Especially with clothes I can actually afford.

Just wondered since I did not see a post on an outfit for Valentine's Day if you will have one for St. Patrick's Day or not? Or if you have ever done any for any Holidays? Also already trying to figure out my easter outfit for this year. I'm always planning my outfits in advanced. For example, I'll need to plan my 3rd Wedding Anniversary outfit for may as well as a Mother's Day Brunch outfit.

  102. I read your blog religiously now, I check daily for new updates. You've given me so many ideas and much inspiration! Thank you! And congratulations on your pregnancy, how very exciting! 🙂

  103. Thanks for your blog Audrey. We are different in age but I think I have a lot to learn from you about clothing. My closet is very regimented, separated into categories of Casual, Dressy Casual and Dressy and ne'er the twain shall meet. So I have a lot of single-use pieces and no outfit looks "finished". Thanks for each and every picture. If I don't have a pic, I just don't "get it." So keep posting those. thanks again, Dianne

  104. Hi Audrey! I just found your blog on Pintrest, and I've been obsessively reading all of your posts! I'm getting ready to do a major closet overhaul because my clothes are getting worn out, and I've been seriously lacking in the style department. You have really made me feel like I too can be fashionable. I'm doing my homework and arming myself with the tips you've shared here, so that I can have a remixable and versatile wardrobe. Thank you so much, and keep up the great work! ~Jennifer M.

  105. Hi Audrey, do you know where is Slovakia? Do you have big big fan there and it is me Mirka

  106. I've just found your blog, and your ideas have opened up so many possibilities of using things I already own. I'm a follower of Jesus, too, and I love that your style is modest, something I can recommend to my daughters. I esp. love the part about re-imagining an article of clothing. I'm 48, and it's hard to break free of all the "fashion rules" that we were taught growing up. I think I have some pretty good basics to work with; I just need a few belts. Thank you for the inspiration…best wishes for your pregnancy. God bless you!!

  107. Hi Audrey! I love your blog so much! When I was in my twenties, I used to really be into fashion and had cute clothes. Then, I got married, had two kids, then got divorced. Somewhere along the way, I got out of touch with my fashion sense. I'm now in my 40's and feel like I never look as nice as I used to, but part of it is refiguring out my style for a different age bracket. The field I work in is dressy casual and I like a clean, classic look with pops of color to make it modern looking. I've seen a few fashion blogs, but what I LOVE about yours is that you look fantastic, but it's still a dressy, casual look that you've pulled off with affordable clothes and accessories. Plus, you also break it down for the fashion challenged people out there (like me) so that we can figure out our own style and where to buy things. While I am not religious, I appreciate that you disclose your Christianity in your About Me page, but your blog posts aren't preachy. Because of your blog, I feel excited and motivated now to start figuring out my fashion style again and putting together a more stylish wardrobe. Thanks so much! (Man, I am wordy!). 🙂

  108. I LOVE YOU! I'm a teenaged girl who fairly recently found your blog, and it has really helped me put my life back together. Having well-fitted and cohesive outfits helps me to be confidant, and it was such an encouragement to know that you were a Christian too! I've heard things from some people like that I should not care about having any self esteem if I'm a Christian, but I disagree because it can lead to clinical depression. Confidance in your appearance is, I think, a big part of feeling your best. Thank you!

  109. Hi, I work at Target! Yay!
I like your blog 🙂 And I admire your openness about your love for Jesus!
    ~ Em

  110. I recently discovered your blog through Pinterest while I was searching for ways to remix my own wardrobe seeing as for the month of December I'm planning on not buying any clothing for myself. I love your blog! The outfits and advice you post are relevant to my everyday life and not to mention they are outfit options I can actually see myself wearing (not the exact same thing as you because that would be weird) without feeling like its a costume! I also love the fact that you are completely open about your love for Jesus.

  111. So excited about this blog! It's like all the random pinterest pins and crazy ideas I've had come to life! Thank you. I'm equally excited to do the style challenge!!

  112. Hi Audrey! This is such a great website thanking you for putting it together. Congrats on your new baby:)

  113. Hi Audrey,

thank you so much for your time and your exceptionally detailed explanation of everything here. It's being really helpful.

I have something for you in return: The yellow links in your site are not contrasting with the white background very well, making them virtually unreadable. You would greatly improve your site by either changing their colour to a darker shade, or making them white and colorise their background instead.

  114. This continually is amazing to me how bloggers such as yourself can find the time and also the dedication to keep on creating fantastic blog posts. This is wonderful and one of my have to read on the web. I simply want to say thanks

  115. hi just saw your site while browsing for an outfit. its fun and I like it helps me with my wardrobe especially coming back here in states.

  116. Hi I just found your Blog last night. I am working as a post doctoral researcher at the University in Physics. I have mostly male colleagues, and my dressing is more on neutral shades (jean and tees and sweatshirts). I just pick cloths that looks appealing and never tried to think more on how it would look on me but I wanted to change the way. I have searched for a guide but most of the blogs were for girly girl and didnt suit my "so called style ;)". But yours is giving me an opportunity to understand the basics, I read quite a bit of your blog already and I have tried to put together my outfit today and feels a bit better than my usual way of dressing. Thanks!

  117. Love your blog, it's refreshing to see a blogger that is not a size 24 or 0. I can rely much more to you (my sizing is almost the same as yours) than to a a very small girl, beause, let's face it, I don't look as good in all the clothes than a size xs! thanks for your honesty!

  118. Thrilled to have found your blog-I love fashion, outfits and shopping my own closet! I recently purchased a chambray shirt and saw one post that you have with it-would you do one for fall??

  119. Hi Audrey,
My name is Madhu and I wanted to drop you line thanking you for your wonderful blog. I am, sadly, hopeless at putting myself together (couldn't think of a better way of saying that! 🙂 ) and your blog has been a heaven sent! I don't quite recall how I stumbled across it, but I signed up via email a few months ago and I look forward to every new post. You have helped me begin to recognize my style and build a wardrobe. Your simple yet elegant style is inspiring, and I must admit I now own one or two(ok, maybe more) of the same pieces you do. 🙂
    Thank you so much!

  120. Hi Audrey. My name's Ella and I'm from Kenya. I've just come across your blog while googling ankle boots and it's rather lovely. I'm a college student in my 20s and I absolutely love fashion. It's incredibly refreshing to see such a nice, simple yet informative blog, and I love that you mentioned our Lord in your intro. I'd have loved to be a model but due to a hip injury and a health condition I don't think that can happen so I wanted to give up on fashion altogether. Seeing your blog this evening has reminded me that I can still love fashion through my clothes and stuff, so thank you for that. I wish you lots of success. ??

  122. Just found your blog, and your ideas translate so well and are very wearable. Keep up the great work! I especially love the one piece mixed multiple ways, and would love to see that with additional fall staples. Cheers from MN!

  123. Dear Audrey. First of all, i'm from Portugal so sorry for my English 🙂
I just LOVE your blog. I've been following you for some years and i love the way you dress. I love some pieces but to order them it's very expensive. Keep with you big smile. A big hug from this side of the world

  124. Hi Audrey! Love Love Love your blog! Been following for about a year and you have helped me use my closet in so many ways! One question that maybe you could help me with concerns wide leg or bell-bottom type jeans. This is the style I like best and looks best on me (larger hips) but I am always at loss to what type of shoes to wear with them. I live in a rural area and heels (whether it be pumps or boots) are not always practical. Would love any help with this! Keep up the great work on your blog!

  125. Audrey! It's Daphne, from Mrs. Shannon's Music Studio! And….Benson's long-lost childhood friend lol. I found your site b/c I was googled "10 item wardrobe" and found something from your blog! I love your blog! I'm totally in a "I'm a mommy and can't shop but wanna be stylish" rut and I love how you show outfits that are put together, stylish, and versatile, and all online so with a click, I had a shopping spree at Nordstroms lol. Hope you guys are well! Say hi to Benson for me too!

  126. I recently found you on instagram and love your style! I ordered leggings from Nordstrom's recently that you posted about and I love them, super comfortable and hold everything in place:)
