3 Casual Mom Friendly Outfits for Back to School

3 Casual Mom-Friendly Outfits for Back to School

Addie started kindergarten a couple weeks ago, and so far she’s been loving it!  She of course misses her old daycare/preschool, but she’s doing great in kindergarten.  As the school schedule starts to pick up a little more, I thought it’d be helpful to share some casual mom friendly outfits for back to school to help you get out the door quickly and confidently.  Wear these for drop-offs, pickups, and volunteering at your kid’s school.  Or, wear them anytime, like on the weekend, running errands, or hanging out with friends

SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes, 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

Outfit #1: Striped Tee + Jeans + Slip On Sneakers + Utility Vest
This is my go-to outfit whenever I want to pick up my kids in something comfortable but put together.  Actually, anything with jeans and white slip on sneakers is my go-to.  But, when in doubt, striped tee for the win!  Keep it simpler without a vest, or add a layer like a vest or utility jacket and necklace to add more dimension and really pull it all together!

Since I have little kids, a lot of movement is involved, and therefore comfortable pieces are KEY.  These jeans are extremely comfortable, with soft, stretchy legs, and a stretchy waistband.  These are the pair I’ve been wearing for years, but if you’re new around here, I’d feel like I wasn’t my job if you didn’t know about them! 😜 They run pretty large, so I sized down to 4 and could even fit size 2 (after FASTer Way to Fat Loss). 😮 Try them HERE.

Outfit #2: T-Shirt + Sneakers + Leggings + (Denim Jacket)
This is a sportier, athleisure outfit that is super mom friendly.  I’ve got on my favorite Zella leggings that are thick, opaque, and have some compression that offers extra support to hold everything in place.  The waistband is high, wide, and comfortably lays flat against your stomach instead of digging into it.  Find them HERE.  Or get the awesome version with POCKETS HERE!  I remixed these recently 6 ways for fall HERE.

For a quick stop by school on a warmer day, I would wear the outfit exactly as shown above with the jacket tied around my waist–NOT wearing it.  Even though these leggings aren’t see through and are pretty secure, I usually still like to have my rear covered.  Tying the denim jacket around my waist does the trick, and it adds a little dimension to the outfit.

This denim jacket is the softest, stretchiest, most comfortable denim jacket I’ve worn.  It’s quite expensive, but for good reason!  See it HERE.  I wear size M as it runs small.  There is a much more affordable stretchy denim jacket HERE.  I wear it in size XS.

Also, these sneakers are my favorite!  Soooo comfy with a memory foam footbed!  And the sleek design is perfect for athleisure!  I have them in 3 colors now. 😆  See them HERE.

Outfit #3: Relaxed Sweater + Jeans + Booties (or Slip-On Sneakers)
Last is an elevated casual look with this thin fleece that is SUPER comfy and easy to move around in.  It’s great for being with kids, and the twist detail at the bottom for some visual interest.  It comes in several colors, and I have it in multiple colors because I love it THAT much.  See the current colors HERE.  I wear it in XS.

I often wear a more casual version with white slip-on sneakers.  But, add booties and a necklace and you’ve got a dressier casual look for meeting with other parents!  If it’s too warm for you to wear this for a while (I won’t be able to wear this for another few months!) just pin it for later!
