Christmas is approaching, and if you’d like some ideas for Christmas outfits to wear, this post is for you! I know everyone celebrates in different ways, so I’ve rounded up a few Christmas outfits to wear for low-key events to dressier dinners with the family.
SIZING: I’m 5’6” and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
Christmas Outfits to Wear at Home
Christmas Day in our family is super low-key with kids opening presents and then playing with them for most of the day. But, even though it’s low-key, it’s nice to wear something a little festive and feel decently put together for any pics we might snap to capture the days’ memories!
Here are a few Christmas outfits to wear for a relaxed day at home:

1. Festive Sweatshirt + Comfy Jeans
This festive sweatshirt works with leggings and joggers to lounge in at home, and it works with jeans, too!
For a day at home in jeans, I would choose stretchy jeans that also have a stretchy waistband, of course. These girlfriend jeans (by my favorite denim brand with that game-changing elastic in the waistband, Wit & Wisdom) fit the bill perfectly!

2. Red, Green, or White Sweater + Comfy Jeans
For a Christmas outfit that’s super easy yet festive, go for a red, green, or white sweater and comfy jeans.
About the red sweater — I love this sweater! It is thick with some structure, and it’s short enough that I don’t need to tuck it. Plus, it comes in several colors. I wear size M.
The green and white sweaters are the same sweater. I only got them recently, but so far so good! The sweater is fairly thick but not heavy at all. It’s not too long, so you might be able to wear it untucked, depending on your torso length. But, I still like to tuck it. Tip: After I loosely tuck the front, I also fold the bottom hem up in the back.
The medium wash jeans are both girlfriend jeans, one of which is in Outfit #1, and the second is the same pair with a little distressing. They’re stretchy with a stretchy elastic waistband so you can feel cute AND comfortable all day.
The light wash jeans with the white sweater here are from NYDJ, and they’re sooooo SOFT and COMFY! Stretchy and forgiving, of course!

3. Cozy Tunic Sweater + Leggings
For a super cozy look, go for a comfy sweater and leggings! I love this look with an oversized sweater. Between this and the leggings, you’ll be super comfortable all around!

Sweater: Aerie (exact–wearing size XS)
Leggings: Aerie (exact–wearing size M)

4. Festive Plaid Shirt + Comfy Jeans + Cardigan
This is such an easy outfit formula to use, and it always looks relaxed but put together!
When I saw this green plaid shirt, I couldn’t wait to get it. The color works for so many different skin types as the green is not too dull or too bright. The material is SOFT with a really relaxed and flowy fit. I much prefer this type of material for plaid shirts compared to thicker and stiffer ones, personally!
Here again, I’m wearing the comfy girlfriend jeans. These jeans just work with so many different types of tops and help you look perfectly put together for a relaxing day at home!

5. Festive Sweatshirt + Loungewear Bottoms or Christmas PJs!
If you’re a Christmas jammies type of household, I’m sure you already have some. But if you want to grab some, there are plenty of options! I rounded some up for you in the widget below.
Here, though, I’m wearing the same sweatshirt as in the first outfit but with comfy loungewear sweats. I like the versatility of a festive sweatshirt because you can wear it as loungewear or with jeans.

6. Red Top + Dressy Jeans
This red top can be worn any day of the year but makes a festive outfit this time of year! Pair it with your favorite comfy jeans. Here, I’m wearing wide leg jeans, which are surprisingly comfortable — soft, lightweight, and a good amount of stretch — and pretty affordable during one of Old Navy’s frequent sales.

Top: Amazon (exact—wearing size S)
Jeans: Old Navy (exact—wearing size 6)
Boots: Amazon (exact—wearing size 9)
Earrings: Amazon (exact—wearing 30mm)
Necklace: Nordstrom (exact; nearly identical—but way more affordable!)

7. Satin Blouse + Corduroy or Velvet Pants
Dress things up with a satin blouse! Bonus points if it’s in a festive color, like this green one.
Pair it with dressy jeans or black corduroy or velvet pants. Corduroy and velvet add a richer texture, which helps dress up outfits. These corduroys are insanely affordable during Kohl’s frequent sales. They are stretchy and comfy and way worth it for the price! They come in several colors.

Top: Amazon (exact—wearing size S)
Jeans: Kohl’s (exact—wearing size 6)
Boots: GAP (exact—wearing size 9)
Earrings: Amazon (exact—wearing 30mm)
Necklace: Nordstrom (exact; nearly identical—but way more affordable!)

8. Festive Sweater + Dressy Jeans
Another option is a sweater with dressy jeans! This is the same sweater as I showed with girlfriend jeans but I dressed it up a bit just by wearing bootcut jeans and a heel instead. Easy peasy!
These jeans are great for dressing up outfits, and they are soft, stretchy, comfortable, and super affordable!

Sweater: Nordstrom (exact—wearing size M)
Jeans: Kohl’s (exact—wearing size 6)
Boots: Amazon (similar)
Earrings: Amazon (exact—wearing 30mm)
Necklace: Nordstrom (exact; nearly identical—but way more affordable!)

9. Dress
For a super comfy option that looks really dressy, try a sweater dress! This one is super comfy and has POCKETS! It has an empire waist which hits above the stomach, offering shape without constricting you. This comes in tons of colors and is pretty affordable — a great dress for the holidays!
Another awesome dress that is similar but more formfitting is THIS sweater dress. Same material, just diff shape. More formfitting and slits along the sides. So cute! It also comes in tons of colors HERE.

Holiday Gift Ideas for Teachers!
As both students and teachers prepare for Christmas break, you might still be looking for the perfect gift for the teacher(s) in your life!
I once took a poll asking teachers what their favorite gifts to receive were. Hundreds of teachers responded and an overwhelming 95% of them said GIFT CARDS! To Target, Starbucks, and Amazon, specifically. Movies and restaurants are great too.
A handwritten note or homemade card from the student was also very popular. Many said, “Please, no treats!” while a handful of others welcomed chocolate, coffee, and wine. 😄
In case you want to include a gift with a gift card and a note from your child, here are a few ideas:
- Nickel & Suede Lightweight Leather Earrings – EASY gifts to give to teachers! SO lightweight and comfy to wear all day. So many styles, beautifully made, super great quality.
