Don't be scared of black leather jackets.

There are so many things I could say about a black leather jacket. Like, should I refer to my hardcore days when I wore lipstick that was the same color as the jeans in these pictures? Or maybe I’ll save that for a day I have my hands on some pictures from that proud era of my life… (They’re all far, far away hidden at my mom’s house.)

That said, don’t be scared of a black leather jacket! People I’ve talked to immediately associate black leather with something harder than it needs to be. I know the description of my high school self above does not help get that image out of your mind, but a black leather jacket doesn’t need to make you look intimidating! Yes, it’s a little tougher than a cognac leather jacket, but definitely not to the extent that most people seem to have in their head. Pair it with a cute, girly dress or a top with a playful print to soften it up. Try dark jeans and a v-neck tee for a simple, chic look. Or do what I did here: This is an outfit that could be a comfy, office-friendly outfit if paired with a black cardigan. Since I don’t work in an office I simply swapped out the cardigan for the jacket. Hopefully I don’t look too intimidating! 🙂
