One question I’ve heard from some of you lately is how to update classic outfits to make them more modern. I recently shared a post like this, and you all liked it so much I thought I’d do another round. SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
1. Jeans + Tee
I don’t know if it gets more classic than jeans and a plain t-shirt! But, there are some things you can focus on to give the combo a modern and updated twist.
One thing that will have a major impact is wearing a modern cut of denim! Your outfit will instantly feel refreshed by simply swapping out your old jeans for an updated silhouette, like the kick flare crop jeans that I’m wearing here. They completely change the vibe of the outfit!
These jeans are VERY comfortable, BTW!! They are by Democracy, and they are really, really stretchy and soft. SO GOOD! They have elastic in the waistband, so they offer a forgiving and comfortable fit and are easy to move around in! 🙌🏽 They are on the thinner side, making them a great pair of jeans for summer! The second thing you can do is opt for simple and sleek sandals, like the slides I’m wearing here. They are definitely an upgrade from flip-flops! 😄 They’re available in both black and cognac, HERE. I’m wearing size 9.

2. Printed Top + Pants in a Color From the Top
If you need a workwear refresh, including at least one pair of printed pants or a pair of colored pants will go a long way! You can use this really easy outfit formula over and over with different prints and colors.

3. Black Pants + Blouse
This is another classic outfit combination that is really easy to update if you switch the bottoms from a standard straight or skinny cut to a silhouette like crop bootcut pants.
These ponte ankle crop kick bootcut pants are another pair of SUPER comfortable and affordable pants. They are really soft and very stretchy, but they are thicker, which helps you feel more secure. I love that bootcut pants hug your hips and thighs, providing shape, and then add some movement with the slight flare at the bottom. I’ve been loving this silhouette lately! You can do this outfit combo with nearly ANY blouse–it’s really the pants that upgrade the outfit! But, if you need a new blouse, this twist front top doesn’t require any tucking. 🙌🏽 Find it in 3 colors, HERE. I’m wearing size XS.
