Ready to get your winter wardrobe settled? I’ve been scouring stores and checking out items in preparation for the upcoming Winter Wardrobe & Outfit Guide. There are some great items to build your wardrobe with and many of them are on sale this week! So I’m here to share winter wardrobe essentials you don’t want to miss during Black Friday sales!
Some of these are items I’ve ordered and already tried on so I can speak about them firsthand. For the ones I haven’t tried, they’re still worth checking out while they’re on sale because they are winter wardrobe essentials that will help you create outfits more easily this season!
SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes. If I’ve tried any of the items below firsthand, I list sizing info under the product.Â
Winter Boots on Sale
There are three kinds of boots here:
- Super Casual: Boots that work with sweatshirts, relaxed sweaters, jeans, and puffer jackets. These can be lug sole or all-weather boots. They are marked with “1” in the widget below.Â
- Nicer Casual: Boots that work with both relaxed and nicer sweaters, elevated casual tops, blouses, cardigans and blazers, and casual dresses. These are a bit sleeker than a lug sole boots, creating a sleeker look with elevated casual pieces like the ones I just named. These boots are marked with “2” in the widget below.
- Dressy: Boots that sharpen up work looks and special occasion outfits. The kitten-heel style I included in the widget below works EVERY TIME. Make it your go-to option, and you won’t have to think about boots when you’re dressing for work or special events. The pointed toe adds sharpness to every single outfit, keeping you from looking frumpy or dowdy. The high shaft works well under all pants, and it looks great with dresses. The kitten heel looks intimidating, but if it’s low, it’s WAY easier to walk in than you think. These boots are marked with “3” in the widget below.
- I included a super affordable pair of boots from Target (with GREAT reviews), and a pair from Madewell that you’d expect would be much higher quality. If you are uncertain if you really need this style, go for the Target pair because I want you to have this as a fallback option in your wardrobe! You are gonna need it if you have to get dressed up for work or special occasions. They’ll make your outfits look right!
Jeans on Sale
Here’s a list of jeans that I recommend as your winter wardrobe essentials:
- Girlfriend Jeans: Work well with lug sole boots, loafers, and sneakers, and all of your sweatshirts and relaxed sweaters. When all my other jean cuts look weird with sweatshirts, I can always rely on girlfriend jeans to be perfect. I prefer a medium wash, but think about whatever wash would work best with your relaxed sweaters and sweatshirts.
- Dark Wash Jeans: A dark wash is handy to have as it dresses up easily, but of course you can dress it down as well. You can choose any cut for an essential option. I own them in several cuts.
- Medium Wash Jeans: I personally love medium wash jeans as they work better with my relaxed and casual style. Medium wash straight leg jeans can be dressed down with sweatshirts and lug sole boots or dressed up with blouses, cardigans, and nicer shoes. Very versatile!
- Black Jeans: They’re great to mix in to “winterize” your outfits.
Winter Tops on Sale
There are so many different kinds of tops you could and should include in your wardrobe, but I will try to stick to the main winter wardrobe essentials! If you’d like to expand beyond that, download my free Starter Kit Wardrobe Checklist.
For winter wardrobe essentials, we’ll go to the basic of basics because those are the pieces that will carry over season after season, will stay “in style” longer, and will help your wardrobe operate like a well-oiled machine.
Winter Sweaters on Sale
I have a hefty collection of sweaters in my own wardrobe because they’re so much easier to throw on and be warm. You don’t have to think about an extra layer like you do with shirts!
I recommend you start with at least two sweaters in neutral colors. Add some colored ones in there if you like variety. Otherwise, continue adding neutrals galore!
I also recommend choosing sweaters with extra details like texture, a v-neckline, buttons, and anything else that gives it more “oomph” than a super plain, basic, crewneck.
