Today I’m sharing a fall work capsule wardrobe for 2025, full of intermixable pieces that you can wear several ways.
This is the same capsule wardrobe I built and styled for this season’s Fall Wardrobe & Outfit Guide, which includes both work and casual capsules. It’s designed to help you simplify your wardrobe while still feeling pulled together and confident each day.
I recently shared a fall capsule wardrobe for casual wear for 2025, so if you’re looking for that, find it HERE.
In that post, I also shared tips for creating a capsule wardrobe, how to personalize it to your tastes, how you can get the most out of it this season to feel pulled together with ease? and a few outfits to can create. If you want a refresher, I’ll re-share those same tips below!
What Is a Capsule Wardrobe?
A business casual capsule wardrobe is a small collection of clothes that mix and match to create tons of outfits. It’s designed to simplify your wardrobe and make getting dressed way easier as you head into work.
Before we dive in, let me just say I don’t treat capsule wardrobes like a “no new clothes allowed” challenge. That’s way too strict for me! Plus, I find it hard to anticipate every single thing I’ll need before the season even begins.
Instead, I love utilizing a capsule more as a solid core wardrobe for the season — one that’s fairly cohesive and makes it easy to mix and match. But I also like the freedom to add new pieces when something fun or practical pops up.
So, think of this capsule as a starting point, not a hard rule. And the capsule I’m sharing today is a foundation that helps you plan well, be intentional, and create a wardrobe that allows you to get dressed easily. You can build on it or adjust it however you want!
You’ll see tops, bottoms, layers, and shoes that are all intentionally chosen to work together so you can create 60+ outfits from just 28 pieces. (Not counting the shoes because I threw in a lot of options to mix things up, but you certainly don’t need all of them to make outfits work. You could totally get by with just 2-3!)
The Fall Business Casual Capsule Wardrobe for 2025
Here’s what the full fall work wardrobe capsule looks like:

This season’s capsule includes:
- A mix of elevated tops, blouses, and sweaters to accommodate lower-key days, slightly dressier days, and chillier days
- A mix of short sleeve and long sleeve tops and sweaters, in case you have a mix of warmer fall days and cooler fall days.
- Layers like cardigans, field jackets, and blazers in updated, current styles.
- A mix of chinos, a skirt, and trousers to give you variety.
- Shoes in sleek, versatile silhouettes, including flats and boots.
- A mix of basics, neutrals, prints, and colored pieces so that your outfits are fun and you don’t get bored of them!

About This Fall Work Capsule Wardrobe: Style Notes + Customizing Tips
One of the great things about this capsule is that it’s a starting point, not a set of strict rules. You can totally tweak it to fit your style, your body, and your lifestyle. That said, I did weave in a few current trends to keep things feeling fresh. So in this section, I’ll walk you through both — a few style notes on what’s in the capsule and some easy tips to help you make it your own.
Trendy But Wearable Styles in This Fall Business Casual Capsule Wardrobe
This capsule is really fun! It’s full of fall style trends that you can easily incorporate and mix with wardrobe basics to stay updated and current — without buying an entirely new wardrobe. 🙌🏽
Some of the of-the-moment elements you’ll find:
- Popular colors like chocolate brown, burgundy, and mauve.
- Wide leg and straight leg pants for modern styles (with some SUPER comfortable options!!).
- Updated jackets for fall, like chore jackets and field jackets.
- Animal print, which is big again this season!
- Metallic flats, which are more prominent these days.
You don’t need to wear every trend to look current, but if you like to update your wardrobe each season, these are easy, wearable trends that will last beyond just this year.

How to Personalize Your Capsule Wardrobe
While this capsule gives you a strong foundation, there’s plenty of room to adjust it based on what works best for you. Here’s how:
Colors: This version leans into popular fall tones like chocolate brown, burgundy, and mauve, but feel free to swap in colors that better suit your skin tone* or that you naturally gravitate toward. Keeping a consistent color palette still makes mixing and matching easy, no matter which colors you choose!
*If you are interested in knowing which colors work best for your skin tone, get a seasonal color analysis. Read about my experience with a seasonal color analysis and see my results! Also see my post 5 Ways a Color Analysis Has Simplified My Life (1 Year Later).
Sleeve Lengths & Warmth: Depending on your weather, you can adjust the balance of short sleeves, long sleeves, and layers. If you live somewhere warmer, include more lightweight tops and short sleeves instead of heavier layers. For cooler weather, go heavier on the sweaters and long sleeves. If your climate has a mix of both, like really warm for the first half, then cooler for the second (like where I live!), be sure to include options for both types of weather.
Lifestyle: This work capsule is primarily built for business casual outfits. If you need dressier attire, adjust your pieces accordingly. For example, instead of chinos, opt for dress pants. If you want to dress down this capsule, go for twill pants or add jeans instead of slacks.
Prints: I included popular prints for this season, but if you prefer others, go for it! Style is all about what makes you you! One tip is to have a mixture of all-neutral prints and colored prints to give your outfits variety and greater mixing and matching potential — the all-neutral prints go with all sorts of colored bottoms while still packing a punch visually. You can also mix in more solids if you prefer a more minimalist feel. The goal is to make the capsule feel like you.
Use the capsule as a base, then tweak it to fit your personal preferences!
Sample Business Casual Outfits from the Capsule
Want to see how the pieces work together? Here are a few examples of outfits you can make with the capsule.
I put these together these during one of our monthly style weeks inside the PMT Style Club. Each month, we use prompts from the guide to inspire our outfits. You can copy the prompt directly, or you can use the prompts as inspiration. (And really, as members develop their personal style more and more, they are able to put their own twists on the prompts to make them fit their style. Like I mentioned, you can personalize these capsules according to your tastes, and as you become more empowered in your style, you are more confident doing so!)
SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
Here’s the week we did together:

I personally follow the casual outfits during this time, but this past month I also put together work looks for inspiration.
Here are my takes on the outfits! These example outfits are all for warmer fall weather, since that’s what it was like in my area during this challenge, but you can absolutely add layers and swap flats for boots for cooler temps.

This was Monday. It was too hot for teal pants. I happened to have this skirt, which was a great swap! If I didn’t have it, I would have just worn a skirt or lightweight pants in ANY color. This formula works just the same!
Looking for the skirt? Find it HERE. Wearing size S.

Tuesday — I shared two versions, one with a printed top and one with a solid-colored top in the same color family. Again, you can swap in a top in ANY color, but it was nice to have a color presented to me on a prompt so I didn’t have to think very hard!
Find my trousers HERE. Wearing size 6. My pink top is sold out in this color, but you can see other colors HERE. It’s only $19.97 and is stretchy and drapes well. Love it!! Wearing size S.

Wednesday — I shared two looks again. The first is a fall business casual outfit that’s more relaxed while the other is a bit sharper and dressier.
Find my trousers HERE. Wearing size 4 — they looked way too baggy in size 6. Find my striped short sleeve sweater HERE.

Thursday — I went with a green printed top. If I didn’t have that, I would have chosen any color print top that worked with navy pants.
Find my trousers HERE. Wearing size 6.

Friday — Again, it was a hot day, so I went with a leopard print skirt instead of printed pants.
These are just some of the many outfits you can make with this fall business casual capsule wardrobe! When your wardrobe is constructed with the right mix of foundational and flair items, you can mix and match with ease.
My black top is HERE. It’s only $19.97 and is stretchy and drapes well. Love it!! Wearing size S.
