50 Short Tops You Don’t Have to Tuck to Make Look Good

50 Short Tops You Don't Have to Tuck to Make Look Good + tops you don't have to tuck + putting me together + white open knit crochet top + denim shorts + tan sandals

Looking for short tops you don’t have to tuck? I’ve got you!

I know we each have different feelings about whether we are okay with tucking our shirt or not. Some of us are totally fine with it, and some of us are 100% no on it. And that’s totally fine! (As you’ve seen, I’m okay with tucking my top. But my teammate and co-stylist Courtney? 1,000% anti-tucker! She NEVER EVER tucks a single thing, and she always looks great!)

Plus, even if you’re okay with tucking your shirt, sometimes you need a break from it and don’t want to have to fuss with a tuck or think about your midsection at all.

So, I’m back again with another roundup of tops you don’t have to tuck. 🙌🏽

I’ve shared a few of these roundups before, which I’ll link right here, though the items are probably largely sold out by now:

And now, here’s a fresh batch of short tops you don’t have to tuck!

How Do You Know If a Top Is Short Enough for You Not to Tuck?

The criteria for how short a top needs to be is different for everyone. It depends on your torso length and your preference!

One of the biggest mistakes we see women make is wearing tops that are way too long. If you clean up the proportion (i.e. wear a shorter top!!), it’ll make an INSTANT and DRASTIC difference in your outfit.

Generally, we coach our members to have tops hit 1/3 of the way down your body from your shoulders to the ground. That’s the sweet spot that gives you a visually-pleasing proportion. I won’t go into the details of it here, but trust me — it’s actually based on psychological studies and mathematical principles and is used in art, architecture, and fashion! (You can see a side-by-side comparison of the difference in this post on Basics of Proper Fit — scroll down to the section about hem lengths.)

Since each of us needs a different length of top to consider it “no-tuck,” some of these might be perfect for you. Some of them might be crop tops for you, haha! Some of these might still be too long for you.

For example, I personally want a top to be just 20″ to not have to tuck it. Others of you might need it to be 23″ or be okay with a 24″ top.

These tops are shorter than 23”, with some of them being shorter than 22″. But, I’m not 100% certain about a few of them, so forgive me if some are a bit longer.

How to Measure to Know If a Top Is Short Enough for You:

I want you to measure your Preferred Shirt Length. This allows you to KNOW if a top will be too short, too long, or just perfect for you WITHOUT EVEN TRYING IT ON!

Here’s how:
Measure from your shoulder down to the spot you prefer your shirt to hit. AND, measure a range, identifying the shortest you’re willing to go and the longest you’re willing to go.

Again, my Preferred Shirt Length is 20″, for example. But, I believe Courtney’s is like 22-23″ — and we’re basically the same height! But, Courtney and I have different torso lengths, so a 20″ shirt on her will be a midriff, while a 23″ top on me will be much too long.

Many of these tops have their length listed on the site (!!) especially ones from Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, and many from Kohl’s. Check the product details to see if the site lists the length. If so, you can compare it to your Preferred Shirt Length to know with more certainty whether it’ll truly be a no-tuck top for you or not.
