7 Athleisure Outfits for Winter With Formulas to Copy

7 Athleisure Outfits for Winter You Can Copy

Want outfit ideas for what to wear to your kids’ volleyball games, for weekend errands, or perhaps to work from home and feel more put together than if you were in pajamas? Let’s talk about athleisure outfits for winter and formulas you can copy over and over to make getting dressed simpler! My daughter has been in a volleyball camp this winter, and it’s been helpful to have athleisure formulas on hand. Makes getting dressed so much simpler! The great thing about a style formula is that you can plug different pieces into the same equation and generate different outfits. Let’s take a look!

SIZING: I’m 5’6” and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

1. Flare Leggings + Relaxed Sweatshirt

This has been my favorite formula for athleisure outfits for winter for the last year! When I want to wear something cozy, I reach for my fleece-lined leggings over everything. I find them more flattering than joggers and not as tight or restrictive as skinny leggings. And, because they are fitted at the hips and thighs, they pair well with slightly oversized sweatshirts to keep you from looking shapeless. Find them HERE! I’m wearing size M in the 32″ length.

I got this brown sweatshirt almost exactly a year ago when I was starting to overhaul my athleisure. I love it so much that I recently got it in black this year and wear them both so much! The sweatshirt is thick and keeps me warmer than any of my other sweatshirts. Find it in tons of colors HERE. I’m wearing size S.

I love to use this formula with a graphic print sweatshirt. I got this California sweatshirt during my athleisure update last January as well. It’s totally my vibe with bolder font and I’ve worn it so much this past year! Unfortunately it’s sold out in black, but it’s available in several other colors, HERE. I’m wearing size M.

You can of course do this with skinny leggings. For a modern twist, add the socks like you see everyone doing! Or, stick with the flare legging silhouette, which is the other way to update it.

2. Wide Leg Sporty Pants or Flare Leggings + Long Sleeve Tee + Vest

This year I’m expanding on that little core winter athleisure wardrobe I created last year. So far I’ve focused on adding wide leg fleece-lined pants and vests! I LOVE this formula. It miiiiight replace my go-to athleisure outfits for winter… when it’s not too cold, of course.

These wide leg fleece-lined pants are so, so comfortable! The leg isn’t very wide, which I actually kind of like because it’s easier to pair with relaxed sweatshirts. It can almost read like a straight leg pant. But if you actually compared it to a straight leg pant, it is definitely roomier. Ahhh I love these! They come in 5 colors and 3 lengths, HERE. I’m wearing size M, which is a tad loose at the waist, but not loose enough to size down to S.

The white tee I’m wearing has a ribbed texture and is made of a spandex-y fabric that matches the athletic feel of these sporty pants. The ribbed texture makes it more visually interesting. It comes in several colors, HERE. I’m wearing size L.

I really like this formula of wide leg pants + a long sleeve tee + vest! And, if it’s really cold, you could wear a fitted shorter sweatshirt over the long sleeve tee and throw the vest on over that.

Shop the Outfit:
Tee: Amazon (exact–wearing size L)
Vest: Nordstrom (similar)
Pants: (exact–wearing size M)
Sneakers: Walmart (exact–wearing size 8.5)
Earrings: Amazon (exact—wearing 30mm)
Necklace: Nordstrom (nearly identical—but way more affordable!)

black and white striped tee + black vest + black wide leg fleece lined pants + white sneakers + gold jewelry

Here is another outfit with the same formula, this time with a striped tee and black wide leg pants. This style of vest goes really well with sporty athleisure AND it works with jeans and a sweatshirt. I loooove the versatility!

You can also do the long sleeve tee + vest combo with flare leggings (HERE) instead of wide leg pants, of course!

3. Colored Leggings + Neutral Sweatshirt

This sweatshirt is also from my athleisure update last year. The zip-up style has been pretty popular, and I like it because it has so much more character than a standard crewneck sweatshirt. This one is super soft and drapey. It has a hood pockets and thumbholes. It gives you that slouchy look, and if that’s what you prefer you can find it in lots of colorways HERE. If slouchy is not what you’re looking for, the sweatshirt I’m wearing in the outfit below will be a better option.

These blue leggings are part of my continued athleisure overhaul. I wanted something that wasn’t black. These are also fleece-lined, making them great for winter! Though I’ve gotta say… now that I have the baby wide leg pants, which are way less constricting… I might not need these anymore, haha! Anyway, if you’re in the market for fleece lined leggings, you can find these HERE. I’m wearing size M.

Shop the Outfit:
Sweatshirt: Amazon (exact—wearing size S)
Leggings: Amazon (exact—wearing size M)
 Hoop Earrings: Amazon (exact—wearing 30mm)
Necklace: Nordstrom (nearly identical—but way more affordable!)

4. Wide Leg Sporty Pants + Fitted Crop Sweatshirt

Put this in your rotation for athleisure outfits for winter! This last formula is similar to the one above, but it needs to be its own category because the silhouette is important! Pair sporty wide leg pants with a fitted crop sweatshirt. Now, “crop” doesn’t have to mean you show your midsection. It just means shorter, which is important if you want to maintain your shape in some way with wide leg bottoms.

Here are the navy fleece-lined wide leg pants again. I paired them with a similar sweatshirt to the one in the prior outfit, but this one is thicker, is more fitted, and has more structure, which is a better option to pair with wide leg pants.

The sweatshirt is from Quince, and it’s so good! It’s a medium weight and not super bulky, but I’ve been surprised by how warm it keeps me. It feels and looks like a good quality item, and it brings polish to even your most casual outfits! Not to mention it has pockets, a zipper, and thumbholes. Because it’s more fitted and has a little bit more structure, it pairs really well with wide leg bottoms. It comes in 3 colors, HERE. I’m wearing size S.

Shop the Outfit:
Sweatshirt: Quince (exact–wearing size S)
Pants: (exact–wearing size M)
Sneakers: Walmart (exact–wearing size 8.5)
Earrings: Amazon (exact—wearing 30mm)
Necklace: Nordstrom (nearly identical—but way more affordable!)
