When I busted out my striped cardigan in the recent Conversation Pieces post it reminded me of the utility of a great neutral patterned cardigan. It can be a workhorse in your wardrobe, especially now that fall weather allows for some layering! I love my striped cardigan because I can throw it on over any solid tee or tank of any color and instantly feel a little more pulled together. I also like that because they’re neutral they add pattern and interest without being too in-your-face.
Here are some options, mostly from Target, ModCloth, JCPenney, Old Navy, and J.Crew Factory.
Option #1 & Option #2 – Mandy commented asking about my striped cardigan, but it is a couple years old (Target) and not available anymore. However, I found this lookalike at ModCloth (option #1). There’s only two left, and in size small, so I included option #2 which is available in LG / XL and is black/white. (Mine is navy/cream.)
Option #3 – Some people may think animal print is a little loud, but there’s something about black and white animal print in a cardigan that is very classy to me. I imagine it with a black pencil skirt and a simple maroon or forrest green tank underneath. Love it!
Option #4 – Very cute polka dot cardigan! I think it speaks for itself. 🙂
Option #5 – Also available in spearmint/minty green, which is also totally cute.
Option #6 – Comes in a darker color too, and the polka dots are actually made of sequins for some extra sparkle! That helps take it from day to night.
Option #7 – These dots are also a little sparkly, and there are some other patterns and neutral colors with shimmery embellishments.
Option #8 – Comes in a bunch of colors shown above and another neutral striped color.
Option #9 – I think this cardigan is so cute! I don’t think it really suits my style or personality, but nonetheless I find it adorable!
And in case you’re looking for solid colored cardigans, here are some from Target (~$20) and J.Crew Factory (~$30) that each come in 10+ colors.
