Leggings in public for the first time! (Besides under a dress.) You’d better believe my rear was covered because I’m still not convinced that leggings are pants unless they are thick and completely opaque. And even then, I have my suspicions. But as far as leggings in a general sense, pants argument aside, trying this Hue pair from Nordstrom (HERE) I understood the appeal of leggings and opened up to incorporating them into real outfits.
While I don’t think this Hue pair is quite opaque enough to be worn as pants they kind of compress your legs a little, in a way that doesn’t squeeze but feels supportive. Also, I thought the wide waistband would get on my nerves, but it actually flattens things out nicely. I can’t speak to how well they last or if they fade in the wash since I’ve only had them for a couple of weeks, but so far I highly recommend them! I’m normally 6/8 on bottom and I’m wearing these in S. I got these for my sister-in-law for Christmas, and she’s normally size 2-4 and liked these better in S as well, as opposed to XS.
One day I’ll do a post on ways to wear leggings, but for today’s look it’s just a plain tunic and a cozy cardigan that covers my rear. The tunic could stretch past my rear, though I didn’t pull it that far down in these pics since I was wearing the cardigan. This cardigan was a pleasant surprise! It’s not the warmest thing ever, but combined with the thin tunic I was warmer in this than with any of my other thicker sweater cardigans. Also, I’ve worn some really heavy thick cardigans that I ultimately got rid of because they felt like they dragged me down, but this one is comparatively light and I haven’t yet felt like it was too much material or weight to carry.
I’m normally S/M and wearing this in M, though I could probably have done S too. It’s sold out at White Plum, but I found what appears to be the exact cardigan at ModCloth, and it’s 40% off!
