3 Summer Weekend Getaway Outfits

Raise your hand if you’re ready for a vacation!  In anticipation of relaxed summer days, today I’m partnering with ModCloth to share a few outfits for a weekend getaway!

ModCloth is a great place to search to keep your wardrobe fresh and fun!  I LOVE the variety of what they carry.  They have some great basics like soft, stretchy jeans and denim shorts or basic tees that are on the thicker side.  They also have basics that are slightly elevated with a cute details (my personal favorites), like a basic tank with a ruffle or a plain white tee with a subtle cutout neckline.  And then they have tons and tons of statement pieces in interesting silhouettes, vibrant prints, and fun colors!  Not to mention they offer a long range in sizing, from XXS to 4X in many of their pieces.  (Oh, and BTW.  ModCloth now offers FREE RETURN SHIPPING!!!  ??)

Now, we don’t have any vacations planned this summer because…newborn.  (She turned 6 weeks old this past Sunday!)  We didn’t know how the first few months would be or how I’d feel postpartum.  (We had NO expectation that I’d recover so quickly!)  Luckily we live in one of the top summer vacation destinations in the States and have tons of friends and family coming to visit instead.  We’ll get to feel like we’re on vacation without having to travel!  😀

What to Pack for a Summer Weekend Getaway

When I’m on vacation, I like to bring a mix of basics and fun pieces.  I like having basics that I can rely on while away from home, and I like the fun pieces to make vacation feel a bit more special and exciting.  Like I said, ModCloth has that mix, and they did not disappoint!  Here are 3 outfit ideas for a quick weekend getaway this season!

SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6/8 in clothes, 8.5 to 9 in shoes.  With ModCloth, I’m most often size M in tops, once in a while L, almost never S.  I’m usually size L in their swimsuits.

Relaxed Daytime Casual: Denim Shorts + Plain Tee + Fun Accessories
First up is a simple outfit with denim shorts and a white tee for a relaxed, easy day.  I added colorful sandals and a fun tote to play it up a bit!

Denim shorts are a summer staple, and this pair from ModCloth is awesome!  For me, finding a good pair of denim shorts is like finding a unicorn.  I want them to be comfy, long enough, and not squeeze my thighs.  WELL, friends. ? found!  These have a 4.5 inch inseam and a forgiving 24″ leg opening which is hard to find.  Plus they’re soft and stretchy!  I’m wearing them in size 9, and they can be found HERE.  Available in plus sizes 14-24 HERE.  Yay!

There’s another pair of shorts that’s a dark wash denim with buttons, cuffs, a 4″ seam, and a higher rise HERE.  I haven’t tried these first hand, but the description says the fabric provides stretch, exactly as described with the pair I’m wearing above.  Try them if you’re interested, since ModCloth offers free return shipping now!

Swimsuit (+ another one I like that isn’t shown)
Second is a swimsuit, because what fun is a spring or summer getaway without time by the water?

I’ve tried several swimsuits from ModCloth over the last few years, and they’re usually great quality and have a lot of flattering details!  ModCloth also has suits for a variety of body shapes, with some that are better for smaller busts, others that are much better for larger busts, and so on.  The reviews are very helpful in giving you an idea of whether a particular suit will work for you as people share a lot of info about their bodies and how the suits fit them.

I was apprehensive about this two-piece, but OHMYWORD!  For my smaller bust, the top is so flattering!  The top is padded (with removable pads and underwire), and the front has cute ruching, which both help enhance and flatter your bust.

The bottom, though you can’t see it, is high waisted and helpful for sucking things in and smoothing them out–like a postpartum belly!  I wish it would *fully* cover my rear, but if you don’t care about that, then try this suit because it’s soooo cute!    (You can see a view of the rear on the product page HERE.)

I wear the top in size M and the bottom in L.  This suit comes in 8 different prints, including an adorable gingham version. See them all HERE!

A One-Piece I Loved:
Another suit that I got but didn’t get to snap pics of is THIS one-piece in Black Floral.  It’s probably not supportive enough for larger busts, but it’s fine for me.  Since it’s a one-piece, the waist is even more flattering and flattens and smooths things out even better!  The back also provides more coverage, though it doesn’t seem like that on the product page.

I wear this one in L.  See it in two colors HERE.

ModCloth has so many cute swimsuits, including lots of one piece suits which I know many of you are looking for.  Like I said, they have a variety of suits for different body shapes, bust sizes, etc. so read reviews as they’re available to see if a suit is right for you.  But also, just order them to try them because ModCloth now offers free return shipping!!  (I keep mentioning the free return shipping because it’s fairly new, and I’m SO stinking excited about it and need to keep reminding MYSELF!  :P)

Out and About
I love wearing maxi dresses for long days out, but this jumpsuit is a really fun alternative!  This jumpsuit is a cotton-linen blend, so it’s really comfortable but also lightweight and breathable in heat.  This keeps me cooler than my typical maxi dress because it breathes better.  It’s also breastfeeding friendly thanks to those buttons!  Plus, POCKETS!!–something my maxi dresses don’t have. ???

These gold slides pair well with a lot of things and are fairly affordable and fairly comfortable!  They’re the same brand as my beloved white sneakers that I’ve been wearing for years.  (The brand is Report.)  I also find these slides help elongate my legs in shorts and skirts since there’s no ankle strap cutting across.  See them HERE.

If you’re looking for summer pieces, whether basics or statement pieces, check out ModCloth!  For sizing help there, I am almost always M in their tops and most often L in their swimsuits.

Are you headed anywhere this summer?  What kinds of summer pieces are you looking for?
