You all ready for another round of reviews? I shopped around for a lot of different pieces as I put together the Fall Wardrobe & Outfit Guides (which are now available in the PMT Shop, BTW)! While I never expect you to use the exact pieces in the guide – because I’d rather you start with the things you love that are already in your closet – I still shop around a ton for in-stock and current pieces for those of you who want to update your wardrobe or need to fill in some holes.
Soooo, I have a lot of good stuff to share with you as a result! 😄 Here are some great fall finds for casual & work!
SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
Target Top – size S
I wanted a white-ish long-sleeve top to take the place of my short-sleeve white top once the weather cools. This one caught my eye. The material is more casual than a blouse, which is perfect. The v-neck helps open up the neckline, especially when paired with a cardigan, and the buttons add visual interest. Plus, you can layer it under cardigans and jackets easily!
This color is more of a warm ivory or even that “linen” color—definitely not white. The material is lightweight but might be subject to a bit of wrinkling. It won’t matter much if you wear it in a loose front tuck or a full tuck, but just a heads up.
Overall, I like it as a casual option that can be layered under cardigans easily. It comes in black and other prints as well! I’m wearing size S.
Old Navy Cardigan – size S
This style of cardigan is very popular right now! This one is really soft, on the thicker side, and cozy, but it’s lightweight and doesn’t weigh you down.
I do find it a bit bulky, though. If that ends up being a problem for you, definitely try a different cardigan with thinner material—cardigans in this style come in all different materials, so they won’t all add bulk the same way. But, this one is worth trying because it feels pretty good and comes in tons of sizing options and in several colors. Return shipping is free, so there’s no risk to try. I’m wearing size S. You could also size down to see if that helps with bulk.
Old Navy Sweatshirt – size M
I wanted to add a sweatshirt in a fun color this season, and this one fit the bill. It’s really soft and fuzzy inside, but it’s lightweight!
I sized up to M. Size S fit well and looked fine, but I found that when I moved around I had to adjust it often. I don’t have that issue in size M. (Always try multiple sizes when possible to find your best fit!)
Old Navy Plaid Top – size S
I unintentionally took a break from plaid, but I think I’m back! This one is thick and has a relaxed vibe. It comes in lots of colors and sizing options! I’m wearing the color “maroon plaid” in size S.
Old Navy Wide Leg Jeans – size 4
I shared on IG stories about these jeans that were on sale for $18. They are thin, lightweight, and very flexible. I love how they look! Unfortunately for me, they don’t fit well and give me a wedgie! 😂 Definitely a pair worth checking out though, especially if you can catch them on sale.
They come in a variety of washes on Old Navy’s site, but the color I’m wearing is HERE. I’m in size 4 regular length.
Old Navy Striped Tee – size M
Affordable option if you need a new striped top! Also comes in white/black stripe. I sized up to M.
Nordstrom Halogen Blouse – size M
I’ve shown this blouse in several prints and colors over the years because it’s such a good one! It drapes well and looks easygoing but professional for work. You can pair it with jeans for nice casual outfits, too. It has a versatile silhouette that can be worn under blazers, cardigans, and jackets. This is available in several new prints HERE. I wear size M.
J.Crew Factory Boots – size 9
I have been on the HUNT for boots with a high and narrow shaft that have a low heel and casual vibe. (Read about WHY I’m looking for boots with high and narrow shafts in my blog post “How to Wear Booties With Different Cuts of Jeans”).
So, here come three boots that fit the bill. This first pair is from J.Crew Factory. The major PROs to these boots are:
- the high and narrow shaft – works under slim straight crop jeans, kick flares, and wide leg jeans
- the low heel – easy to walk in; good for casual outfits
- the style! – the design is pretty and can be worn with casual outfits and with elevated casual outfits
Now the downside. First, they are synthetic and not real leather, and they look like it in person. For that, they do seem pricey, even on sale. Also, while they aren’t uncomfortable, they’re not necessarily comfortable either. The heel isn’t rubber, so there is not much shock absorption.
I’m on the fence with these at the moment because the functionality is SO good, and the style is pretty good. But, I will continue looking for other options until the return window on these closes and I’m forced to make a decision, haha!
One note is they run a tad narrow, and they do loosen up after a bit.
Amazon Essentials Boots – size 9
Since I partner with Amazon, I got to choose a few free items to try, and since I’m on the hunt for boots, these totally caught my eye. These boots are only $32-$40, so they are a STEAL. They don’t compare to real leather shoes, but at that price, it’d be shocking if they did.
They are actually pretty comfortable. They also have a low heel and a high and narrow shaft that works under straight leg jeans and other cuts. The lug sole plus the rounded toe make them even more casual than the J.Crew Factory pair and less able to dress up in elevated casual looks.
If you’re looking for a budget pair of lug sole type boots that have a high and narrow shaft, this is one to check out. Available in 4 colors, including all black.
(I’m bending my knee like that because I do that when testing boots to make sure they stay under my pant legs after moving around. You don’t want to be adjusting your pant legs all the time!)
Kenneth Cole Reaction Boots – size 9
These are really similar to the J.Crew Factory pair in terms of style. They can be worn with casual outfits and dressed up in elevated casual looks. They are a little less bright in color, and they have a dark strip where the elastic is.
In terms of quality and comfort, this pair is the best out of the three pairs shown here. The sole is more comfortable, and the upper is real leather. Again, the J.Crew Factory pair isn’t uncomfortable, but this pair is just better in that regard.
Target Sweater – size S
This is a good, affordable sweater that has texture, which makes it look more interesting and more stylish than a basic sweater. Unfortunately, you can’t see the texture in this picture, haha, sorry! You can get a better look at it on Target’s site HERE.
Amazon Crew Neck Rib Sweater – size M
Pretty good sweater option! Feels thick and cozy but isn’t super heavy—always what I look for in a sweater these days. The silhouette is relaxed without being boring, as it has subtle details like slightly puffed sleeves and ribbed texture. Really good sweater option that is easy to wear! Comes in 8 colors HERE.
Amazon Activewear T-Shirt – size S
This tee is lightweight, on the thinner side, and made of Pima Cotton. It’s breathable and really soft. It is on the shorter side, which is what I was looking for to update the silhouette of my activewear, and it works well with high waisted leggings and with joggers. I wore it for a 4K run with leggings—and could have worn it with activewear shorts—and I wore it in an athleisure outfit with joggers. It comes in 27 colors! I wear size S.
Amazon Activewear Zip-Up – size M
This activewear zip-up has a lot of features, including thumbholes, zippered pockets, seams along the sides to create a flattering shape, and a vent at the back. This comes in 4 colors. It’s fairly affordable at $26, HERE.
