If you’re looking to refresh your spring athleisure outfits, today’s post is for you! I know it can be easy to default to the same leggings and sweatshirt, so I’d love to help you feel both comfortable, pulled together, and fresh!
Today I’m sharing a spring athleisure capsule wardrobe, along with a few simple outfit ideas you can copy. I want to help you get dressed quickly, feel comfortable, and still look put together for all the things you have going on, from errands, school drop-offs, travel days, and everything in between.
Spring Athleisure Capsule Wardrobe
Here’s the spring athleisure capsule wardrobe! It’s full of neutral AND colorful pieces. I’m someone who needs more interest in my athleisure, so I’ve gotta have both, but you can swap colored items for more neutral pieces or vice versa.

This capsule is made up of versatile, comfortable pieces that all work together:
- athletic pants (slim and wide leg)
- leggings (neutral and colored)
- tees and tanks
- lightweight layers (like a denim jacket or zip-up jacket)
- versatile sneakers
The idea here is not to give you a long shopping list. It’s to show you how a small group of pieces can create multiple outfits without a lot of effort.
Everything mixes and matches easily, so you don’t have to overthink it when you’re getting dressed.
I chose a lighter color palette for spring and included some of my personal favorite pieces. But as always, use this capsule as inspiration and as a starting template. You can build your capsule around YOUR favorite pieces and items that better suit your style.
This capsule can turn into 40+ outfits!

How to Build Easy Outfits With This Capsule
Before we get into specific outfits, here are a few simple guidelines that make athleisure outfits look more intentional:
1. Focus on structured but comfy pieces (especially bottoms)
Women commonly say they feel sloppy in joggers. To solve that, I love focusing on bottoms constructed from sporty fabric that has a little structure. OF COURSE they are COMFORTABLE. It wouldn’t be athleisure otherwise! So, we’re talking about fabrics with structure AND stretch so that you can be both polished and comfortable.
The wide leg pants I featured here are a personal favorite with a sporty fabric that always looks good.
Another option is something like the travel pants featured in this capsule. I don’t own them personally, as I’m 100% content with wide leg pants at the moment. But I highly recommend this style if you prefer something slimmer!
2. Add a structured layer
If you need to add a layer, I also recommend looking for structured pieces. A denim jacket is a great example. As always, find one that’s lightweight and comfortable to wear all day. Even better if it’s stretchy!
However, if you need something even softer, more comfortable, and better suited for more movement, add a structured zip-up to your wardrobe, like THIS. It’s still a sweatshirt, but notice how the style has more structure and therefore looks more polished.
3. Keep your shoes streamlined
Shoes with a streamlined silhouette help finish the outfit without making it feel bulky.
4. Stick to a cohesive color palette
Neutrals make mixing and matching easy, but you can also add interest with a few coordinated colors!

1. Tee + Slim Athletic Pants + Structured Layer (Optional) + Sneakers

If you have trouble looking pulled together in athleisure, one key is to wear structured bottoms.
A lot of women say they feel sloppy in joggers, and I totally get it. Instead of joggers, I recommend slim, ankle-length athletic pants such as travel pants or golf pants. They have more structure than joggers and leggings, which instantly makes a basic tee feel more polished.
Add:
- a denim jacket for an everyday look
- a zip-up athletic jacket for something more sporty, such as going for a long walk
When to wear it: errands, casual outings, travel days

2. Wide Leg Athleisure Pants + Shorter Sweatshirt or Top + Sneakers

Wide leg athletic pants are incredibly comfortable and feel a little more modern. But the key is getting the proportions right!
Since the pants have more volume, pair them with a shorter top or slightly cropped sweatshirt to define your shape and balance the outfit. This keeps the look feeling intentional instead of oversized and shapeless.
You can of course wear any sporty wide leg pants you prefer, but these are my personal favorites by Zella. I got these last year and absolutely LOVE them for cool athleisure outfits! Now available in several colorways HERE. (I own two colors now, hehe!) I wear size S.
When to wear it: casual days, work from home, meeting a friend

3. Colored Leggings + Coordinated Top + Sneakers

If you want your athleisure outfits to feel more interesting, wear an outfit FULL of color! How do you pull this off? One super easy way to do this is by pairing colors within the same family.
Examples:
- dark purple leggings + lighter purple top
- maroon bottoms + soft pink top
- navy bottoms + light blue top
It’s still easy and comfortable but adds a little personality without feeling over the top.
