8 Wearable Fall Fashion Trends to Try This Year

8 Wearable Fall Fashion Trends to Try This Year + fall fashion trends 2026 + putting me together + easy fall trends

Fall fashion is in full swing, and there are some really fun fashion trends this season that can help your outfits feel a little fresher.

But first, you do NOT have to follow trends to be stylish. You can have a classic, timeless wardrobe and completely ignore trends. Truly!

However, if you’ve been looking at your fall wardrobe and thinking it could use a little something to make it feel fresh again, trends are an easy way to do that. And you don’t need to overhaul your wardrobe or buy a bunch of new clothes, either.

Sometimes incorporating one current color, shoe shape, print, or silhouette is enough to make outfits you’ve worn for years feel new again.

Today I’m sharing 8 wearable fall fashion trends that are pretty easy to incorporate into everyday outfits. I’ll show you how to wear several of them, plus I’ll share plenty of options you can shop if you want to try them yourself!

And if you’d rather have someone just lay out your fall wardrobe and outfits for you, I’ve already done that in the Fall Wardrobe & Outfit Guide, so be sure to check that out!

The Fall Guide gives you a complete mix-and-match wardrobe plus tons of outfit ideas so you don’t have to wonder what goes with what. I’ve also incorporated these trends into the wardrobes and the outfit ideas, so you’ll see practical ways to wear them rather than just seeing a list of what’s “in.”

Okay, let’s get into the trends!

1. Dark Denim

Dark indigo and washed black denim are especially popular this fall, and this is probably one of the easiest trends to incorporate because… it’s just jeans!

Dark indigo is polished and pairs easily with fall colors. It’s also incredibly versatile because you can dress it up or down seamlessly.

Washed black denim has a little more edge to it, but it’s still a neutral. Pair it with burgundy, brown, olive, cream, brighter colors — you’ve got tons of options.

Here I’m wearing my beloved Quince jeans, of course. 😆 The pair on the left is the Palazzo style, which is wider than the standard wide leg. On the right I’m wearing the standard wide leg in washed black — this wash specifically is SOOOOO SOFT and comfy! I mean, both of these pairs are, and a lot of the washes are, but this pair is ESPECIALLY soft! These jeans are fantastic for the price. Definitely try them if you haven’t yet!

2. Relaxed Pants: Wide Leg, Barrel Leg & Relaxed Straight Leg

Relaxed pants aren’t going anywhere! Full-length wide leg pants are still popular, while barrel leg and relaxed straight leg styles give you a slightly more trend-forward option.

The nice thing is that there’s quite a range here. If you’re not interested in going super trendy, you don’t have to jump straight into an exaggerated barrel leg. A relaxed straight leg or classic wide leg gives your outfits an updated silhouette while still being extremely wearable.

And, as always, choose the cut that works best for YOU. There are enough silhouettes available right now that you don’t have to force yourself into one that doesn’t make you feel good.

While the Quince Bella Wide Leg Jeans and their Palazzo jeans I shared earlier totally fit the bill, I also wanted to show two more styles.

On the left are my Spanx lightweight jeans, which I’ve been loving lately. They are even wider and more relaxed than the Quince jeans. And this pair in particular is SUPER SOFT and COMFORTABLE. They’re lightweight, which is great for warmer months.

On the right are the Old Navy barrel leg jeans that so many of you LOVE. While they don’t have the elastic waistband that I always crave, these DO hold the barrel leg shape the best. Plus, they’re really affordable, and I love affordability when you’re testing a new trend. But really, I like the shape these make, even above pairs that cost 2x more.

3. V-Cut & High-Cut Flats

Flats are getting a little update this fall with v-cut and higher-cut shapes at the top of the foot. (I’m wearing styles like these in all the outfits above.)

These details sound tiny — and they are! — but they can make a huge difference. This is also nice because you don’t have to wear anything that screams “TRENDY!” It’s simply a slightly different shoe shape that makes an otherwise basic jeans-and-sweater outfit feel more intentional and current.

The ones I have to update my outfits are THIS pair from Nordstrom and THIS pair from Naturalizer. I’ve been wearing both throughout this post. There are many others out there, though!

4. Silk Scarves

Here’s another small update that can make a surprisingly big difference!

Silk scarves are a fun way to add color, print, and personality to an outfit without committing to a whole printed shirt or brightly colored sweater.

Tie one around your neck, in your hair, or around the handle of your bag. They’re especially helpful if most of your wardrobe consists of neutrals and you’re looking for a low-commitment way to add a little more interest.

And they’re an easy way to refresh pieces you already own, which I LOVE.

5. Chocolate Brown & Burgundy

Chocolate brown and burgundy are continuing into fall, bringing lots of rich color to everything from sweaters and pants to shoes and accessories.

You don’t need to wear these colors from head-to-toe. Try a burgundy sweater with your favorite jeans, chocolate brown shoes with your go-to fall outfits, or even just a brown belt or bag.

Also, if you’d like help styling burgundy, see my post: What Colors Go With Burgundy Pants?

6. Bright Colors: Bright Blue, Cherry Red, Chartreuse-y Green

Fall doesn’t have to mean only dark and muted colors! Green, bright blue, berry, and cherry red are bringing some fresh energy to fall outfits this season.

Again, you can make this trend as subtle or noticeable as you want. If you love color, grab a sweater or top in one of these shades. If bright colors aren’t normally your thing, try a smaller dose through shoes, a scarf, or another accessory.

That’s one of the easiest ways to experiment with a trend without buying something that you’re not yet sure of but want to try.

7. Leopard Print

Leopard print is still going strong! You can absolutely go bigger with a leopard print top or skirt, but you don’t have to. If you’re not normally a print person, try leopard in a shoe, belt, or other small accessory.

Because leopard is made up of neutral colors, it’s easy to mix and match with the rest of your wardrobe. A leopard flat with jeans and a simple sweater, for example, gives you a little extra visual interest without making the outfit complicated at all.

8. Suede Shoes & Bags

Last up: suede! Suede adds a rich, soft texture that feels especially fitting for fall. Look for suede in flats, loafers, sneakers, boots, and bags.

This is another trend that doesn’t require you to change your whole wardrobe. Swap your regular leather or faux-leather shoe for a suede version, and you’ve added another texture that makes a simple outfit more interesting.

Shop Suede Shoes & Bags

Hopefully you noticed a theme here: you don’t need to buy eight new things. You don’t even need to buy one new thing if you already like your wardrobe!

Trends are simply another tool you can use when your outfits are starting to feel stale and you want an easy way to freshen things up.

Maybe you already own wide leg pants and dark denim, and all you want this year is a burgundy sweater. Great! Or perhaps your wardrobe is mostly classic basics, and adding leopard flats or a silk scarf would give you exactly the bit of personality you’ve been missing.

Pick the trends that appeal to you, skip the ones that don’t, and make them work with your wardrobe.

Make Your Whole Fall Wardrobe Easier

And if your bigger issue isn’t figuring out which trend to try, but figuring out what the heck to wear every day, that’s what my Fall Wardrobe & Outfit Guide is for.

Rather than buying random pieces and hoping they work together, you’ll have a plan for building a versatile fall wardrobe along with plenty of outfit ideas at your fingertips.

Plus, you’ll see these trends incorporated throughout the wardrobes and styling ideas, so you can see how to make current pieces work with practical, everyday outfits.
