Today I’m sharing an updated casual winter capsule wardrobe from the Winter Wardrobe & Outfit Guide! I was SO happy to make this season’s casual winter capsule wardrobe because sheesh, I was ready for it! Like all of us, I spent the last few winters navigating the changes in jean styles — and subsequently, shoes, cardigan lengths, sweaters, and everything else. I had some good stuff, but I also experimented with some stuff that I ultimately didn’t love, and I was ready to whip my winter wardrobe into shape. As I planned the winter wardrobe for the guide, I was able to curate my own wardrobe, and now I LOVE IT! It’s like getting a fresh haircut. 💇🏻♀️
I love planning my wardrobe each season because it causes me to focus on what I already have and what gaps I actually have. It makes me more intentional about what I buy, helps me create a wardrobe that serves me better, and allows me to get dressed easily.

This is the example casual winter capsule wardrobe in the Winter Wardrobe & Outfit Guide. It includes basics for winter and winter trends to keep you updated and fresh. It also includes everyday casual items, athleisure, and a few dressy pieces so you have options for whatever your day entails.
It’s a template for you to start with that you can adjust according to your preferences. You can swap pieces for different colors and prints. You can include more t-shirts or more colored sweaters. You can totally omit printed pieces. It’s really up to you!
In fact, what’s shown here isn’t exactly MY PERSONAL winter wardrobe. Like I said, it’s a template! I will share my personal winter wardrobe another time, though!
Tips for Your Casual Winter Wardrobe:
Here are a few of my top tips!
1. Start with footwear if you have inclement weather or specific footwear criteria. The pants and shoes puzzle is especially tough during the winter when you might require special footwear to navigate rain or snow. If you have strong shoe needs during the winter, start by nailing down your main 2-3 footwear options first. Then figure out which cuts of jeans work with those shoes.
2. Fleece-lined leggings are where it’s at in the winter. The two featured in this capsule wardrobe are both lined with fleece, so they’re cozy and comfy. I own them both and love them. You can find them in the shopping widget above.
3. Choose sweatshirts with details like a zipper collar or graphic print so you can feel cute and stylish, even in a sweatshirt!
